The goal of the family practice residency program at LSUHSC-S is to give young men and women every real-life opportunity to learn the practice of medicine and to equip them with the knowledge and skill to provide excellent and compassionate care in the varied medical settings of today. A university based program coupled with community affiliated training provides the unique training we have found most effective.

Our goal is that each resident grow both personally and professionally during the three-year training period. Physicians best care for others when they care for themselves.

Applications

The National Resident Matching Program via the ERAS system is used for first-year positions. Interview visits should be preceded by submission of a completed application form, recent photograph, Dean's letter with medical school transcript, resume, personal statement, and at least three letters of recommendation. Interviews are by appointment and are scheduled on weekdays only. A full day is planned, and spouses are encouraged to accompany the applicants. Interviews should be accomplished before February 15.
