FACTTS Course Featured in Article
The Fourth-year Academic Clinical Training and Teaching Selective (FACTTS) course prepares fourth-year medical students for residency programs by developing their physical diagnosis and academic teaching skills. Library faculty members participate in FACTTS by teaching sessions on evidence-based medicine and critical appraisal of medical literature. They recently conducted a study to assess the impact of these sessions on the students’ understanding of the subject matter. A report on the study, titled "Assessing the FACTTS: An Evidence-Based Medicine and Critical Appraisal Course for Medical Students," appears in the current issue of the journal Medical Reference Services Quarterly. Congratulations to authors David Duggar, Deidra Woodson, Donna Timm, and Kim Pullen of the Library and Dr. Jerry McLarty of Department of Medicine/Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, along with former LSU Health Shreveport faculty John Cyrus, Mark Baggett, and Dr. Daniel Banks.

Thanks for UpToDate
UpToDate is a popular point-of-care resource that provides specific, concise, evidence-based answers to clinical questions. It provides the user with a summary of the published evidence on a condition and specific recommendations for patient care. The Departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics contributed to the Library’s 2013 subscription to this resource. We appreciate their generosity to help the Library make UpToDate available for everyone at LSU Health Shreveport.
