Award-Winning Shreveport Sculptor James Marks Presents “Anatomical Abnormalities”

Just in time for Halloween, the Library is pleased to host “Anatomical Abnormalities,” a new wire and metal sculpture show from local artist James Marks. The show features new works, such as “Swallowed a Watermelon Seed” (pictured), and will be on display October 11 through early December.

James Marks has been sculpting for over 30 years. In April 2017, he received the “Best Studio” award during Shreveport Regional Arts Council’s Culture Crush weekend. His work is also featured in downtown Shreveport’s “Uncommon Murals” project.

In conjunction with the show, Library faculty have selected for display relevant books illustrating anatomy from the Library’s History of Medicine collection.

The Library is hosting a reception for the show on Thursday, October 12, at 6:00 PM, on the first floor of the Library.
