Electronic Resource Cancellations for 2018

Like many health sciences libraries nationwide, our collection budget remains static while costs for our licensed resources continue to increase. This situation has forced us to make the difficult decision to cancel some of our resources so that we can maintain a fiscally healthy Library.  Library faculty scrutinized in detail the use and feedback about our online products before arriving at these decisions. The Library Committee and administration also provided input. Resources that will not be renewed for 2018 include VisualDx, Faculty of 1000, and some of our e-journals.

Interlibrary loan is available for journals not owned by the Library. Library staff are also available by e-mail or phone to help locate materials and answer questions.

Writing Consultant Service during the holidays

The Writing Consultant Service is unavailable during the holidays.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.  Please submit your document again on January 3.

For more information about the Library’s writing services and its policies, including turnaround time, please visit the Writing Consultants webpage (

Library Bids Farewell to Nell Hays

Nell Hays, Administrative Coordinator in the Library, is leaving LSU Health Shreveport January 31. Ms. Hays began working at LSU Health Shreveport in the Urology Department in 1980, and she was hired in the Library in 2000.  She officially retired in December 2015 but has continued to help us on a part-time basis.  Ms. Hays was recognized with an LSU Health Shreveport Employee Excellence Award in 2012.

The Library staff honored Ms. Hays with a reception on Tuesday, December 5.   We appreciate her service to the Library and LSU Health, and we wish her all the best in the future!
