DynaMed Upgraded to DynaMed Plus

The Health Sciences Library has subscribed to DynaMed, a point-of-care database, since 2008.  However, the publisher is retiring the product, and the Library has agreed to pay for an upgraded subscription to DynaMed Plus for one year.  The new product has a completely new user interface and new search functionality.  It includes hundreds of new topics, and each new topic includes overviews and recommendations.  DynaMed Plus includes thousands of graphics and images. DynaMed Plus is available in Epic and also available on mobile devices.

Our alumni may access DynaMed Plus as part of our subscription.  For additional information about access, alumni should contact the Alumni Association.

September Eyeglass Drive

In cooperation with the Ophthalmology Interest Group and the Shreveport Red River Lions Club, the Health Sciences Library will be holding an Eyeglass Drive during the month of September.

To donate your old glasses, please leave them in the basket at the Library’s circulation desk. You can also leave eyeglasses in the basket in Room 3-344 at the School of Allied Health Professions.

At the end of September, the glasses will be given to the Shreveport Red River Lions Club. The Lions Club accepts prescription glasses, reading glasses, and sunglasses, with plastic or metal frames. Children’s glasses are especially needed.

Donate your old eyeglasses and help change lives one pair at a time.

Sage Knowledge Collection Now Available

The Health Sciences Library is a member of a statewide consortium, LOUIS: The Louisiana Library Network.  Under the direction of the Board of Regents, LOUIS has implemented a project called “Affordable Learning LOUISiana,” which is focused on reducing students’ costs for instructional materials.  As part of this initiative, LOUIS is providing all member libraries with access to e-books in the Sage Knowledge Collection until July 31, 2018.  At that time, funds will be allocated for us to purchase perpetual access to e-books in the collection that have been adopted as textbooks.  The collection includes 370 e-books on health-related topics.
