For each PDA application, you will need to download the client software to your PC, and then upload the client to your handheld.
- Access Medicine Palm and PocketPC
- AccessMedicine allows you to save and download selected ebook contents to your PDA from any AccessMedicine webpage by clicking on the "Save for PDA" link. To use this feature, choose "My AccessMedicine" from the site and follow the instructions. Before installing content, you will need to sign-up for a personal account and download free Mobipocket reader software available from the website.
- American College of Physicians (ACP's) Physician Information and Education Resource Palm
- PIER’s© evidence-based disease modules provide quick access to authoritative and trusted medical information right in the palm of the clinician’s hand. This Palm version supports basic keyword search functionality. The collection of disease modules can be searched and browsed alphabetically. Content is updated on a monthly basis.
- DIRLINE - Directory of Health Organizations
Palm and PocketPC (requires wireless)
- A website for PDA's that features a searchable directory of organizations and other resources in health and biomedicine. This resource was developed by Specialized Information Services (SIS) Division of the National Library of Medicine (NLM).
- DynaMed
(Palm, Pocket PC, Windows Smartphone, Blackberry, iPhone, and iPod Touch)
- DynaMed is available in the PDA application for the Palm OS and
Microsoft mobile devices. It is an evidence-based, point-of-care
clinical reference tool containing over 3,000 topics that are updated
daily. DynaMed monitors and reviews the content of over 500 journals,
evaluating each article for clinical relevance and scientific validity.
- Essential Evidence Plus Palm or PocketPC
- Essential Evidence Plus keeps you current and answers your clinical medicine questions at the point of care with the right information. It allows you to simultaneously search the complete POEMs database along with 6 additional evidence-based databases, plus the leading quick-reference tool, to enable rapid lookup and application of information and tools while you practice.
- MD Consult, Pocket Consult Palm or PocketPC
- POCKET Consult provides you with a daily summary of current medical news; weekly drug alerts; the lastest abstracts from hundreds of journals; access to Mosby Drug Consult and Interactions: over 900 drug monographs including brand name indexing; integrated access to any Elsevier e-dition electronic books on your PDA; and the ability to record, store, and initiate searches on MD Consult right from your Palm OS or Pocket PC handheld device. You will need to login to your personal account (free to LSUHSC-S personnel) to download PocketConsult. Users without a personal account can create one online.
- MEDLINE Database (MD) on Tap Palm and PocketPC

- A free application which supports retrieval of MEDLINE® citations from your PDA through a wireless connection and requires installation of a PubMed client on the PDA. MD on Tap supports several search limits, email of citations, and clustered results.
- MicroMedex Palm and PocketPC
- This tool provides evidence-based drug information, a drug interaction tool, alternative medicine, toxicology and acute care information.
- PubMed for Handhelds Palm and PocketPC

- PubMed for Handhelds is a free web application that allows health care professionals to search Pubmed, read journal abstracts and search via a PICO feature. This is a product of the National Library of Medicine.
- PsychiatryOnline Palm and PocketPC
- PsychiatryOnline allows you to save and download selected ebook contents to your PDA from any PsychiatryOnline webpage by clicking on the "Save for PDA" link. To use this feature, choose "My PsychiatryOnline" from the site and follow the instructions. - A website intended for PDA's that features searchable databases on toxicology, hazardous chemicals, environmental health, and toxic releases. This resource was developed by Specialized Information Services (SIS) Division of the National Library of Medicine (NLM).
- UpToDate Palm and PocketPC (requires wireless)
- UpToDate is designed to quickly answer clinical questions at the point of care.
Content is reviewed and edited on a continuous basis and a new, peer-reviewed version is issued every four months. The published evidence is summarized and specific recommendations made for patient care.
- WISER - Wireless Information System for Emergency Responders Palm and Pocket PC

- First responders can use this resource in hazardous material incidents. WISER provides information on hazardous substances, substance identification support, physical characteristics, human health information, and containment and suppression advices.
